Abstract
Objectives: This study was designed to develop and measure the effects of a bi-directional play art therapy program for parents as a form of education.

Methods: To develop the program||| the researchers conducted two preliminary studies||| which were then revised and supplemented. The participants in the study were seven mothers and their seven children||| who presented with maladjustment behaviors. They formed the experiment group and control group||| respectively.

Results: The play art therapy program for parents had a positive effect on the children¡¯s maladjusted behaviors. The results also showed that the program reduced parents¡¯ stress related to child rearing. Expressions of affection among the mothers in the study also increased||| following their participation in the program.

Conclusions: Parents¡¯ reluctance to consider counseling in the form of a parent education program can decrease as new types of programs become more popular. The therapists conclude that families should be engaged in their homes||| and family therapy should be offered in conjunction with programs like the one in this study.
